The best time to tweeze brows is at night right after a shower. If you don’t shower at night, try taking a hot cloth and applying it to your brow area to open pores for easy hair removal. Right before bed is the best time to tweeze because any redness will subside and fade before morning. 

If the hair hasn’t grown back in a year, it’s safe to say that it probably won't. But don’t worry – you have a couple of options to fake it. One is to use a brow pencil to fill in the sparse areas.  If you choose this route, be sure to use light, feathery strokes in the direction of hair growth when applying the pencil to your brows. If you prefer a softer and more natural look, select an eye shadow shade that is close to that of your brow color. Using an angled brush, such as Tweezerman's retractable Brow Brush, press the powder over sparse areas staying within the lines of your brow shape. To set the color, we recommend BrowMousse brow gel.

In general, there should be no more than an inch and a half between your brows. A good rule of thumb is to take a pencil and place it vertically next to your nose, extending up to your eyebrow. Your brow should not extend to the other side of the pencil. To figure out where your brow should end, slant the pencil (keeping the end by your nostril) so that it extends past the corner of your eye. The arch should be in line with the outside edge of the iris of your eye when you are looking straight ahead. However, if you do not naturally have an arch, don’t try to make one. You could end up with two uneven arches and it will ultimately look unnatural if you don’t have one to start with. Try cleaning up stray hairs and work with what you have.

In general, it's best to follow your natural brow line when shaping your brows. Not only will this likely be flattering to your face, but it also will be the easiest to maintain. If you're new to brow grooming and aren't sure how to proceed, an initial professional brow grooming at the salon might be advisable. Then you can maintain the shape with periodic tweezing at home. In addition, some brow experts find the following advice helpful.

• If you have a round face a high arch will give your face a longer look by appearing to lift the eyes.
• If you have a long/thin face, straighter brow will give the face a more balanced appearance.
• Rounded arcs are best for softening square shaped faces and fuller brows are best suited for faces with prominent features.
• Those with petite features look flattering with a thinner brow, but keep in mind, that super thin brows are rarely attractive.

It can take as long as two months after an eyebrow hair has been plucked for the follicle to generate a new hair. Next time try plucking one or two hairs from one brow, then doing the same on the other to ensure an even look. This will also help you avoid over plucking in the future. In the meanwhile, try filling in your sparse brows with a brow pencil or brow powder. Use light, feathery strokes for a natural look.

To keep your tweezers working well, and to avoid bacterial build up on them, it's wise to clean your tweezers after each use. We recommend using isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball or single-use alcohol wipes found in most drug stores.
